French Gerleman Volunteers for National Rebuilding Together Day 2013

April 30, 2013, St. Louis, MO - On Saturday, April 27, 2013, nearly 40 French Gerleman employees, friends and family members participated in National Rebuilding Together Day and dramatically improved the home of an elderly, disabled couple in St. Louis City.

Nationwide, more than 200 Rebuilding Together affiliates participated in the day. The local Rebuilding Together-St. Louis affiliate organized work at 60 area homes. This was French Gerleman’s seventh year participating.

Projects completed include:

  • Kitchen – installed new floor; painted cabinets; cleaned and polished fan; and installed new lights
  • Upstairs bathroom – installed new floor; recovered shower; and installed a new toilet, a new vanity and sink
  • Downstairs bathroom – painted walls; installed new toilet, new vanity and sink; cleaned clutter and reorganized items on new shelving units to aid in the functionality of the space
  • Downstairs living room – removed, organized, and cleaned clutter; painted walls; and installed ceiling tiles and a new garage lock
  • Backyard – built a new wooden deck and stairs; landscaped including planting flowers and garden, and filling in an old pond with dirt and planting flowers; installing new drainage; painting exterior windows; and cleaning driveway
  • Front yard – landscaping and cleaning

French Gerleman sponsored the event at the "Home Builder" level and donated electrical supplies and materials for the project. In addition, Hubbell Wiring Device-Kellems, Schaeffer Marketing Group and St. Louis Lighting Group participated with us and donated material used in this project.

Rebuilding Together-St. Louis is a St. Louis, Missouri, based not-for-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing neighborhoods by rehabilitating the houses of low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly and disabled, so that they may continue to live independently in comfort and safety.
